AIR POLLUTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE OF CENTRAL IRAN : A CASE STUDY OF ISFAHAN CITY

ABSTRACT

 

This study investigated temperature and rainfall variability in Esfahan stations to study climatic variability in this synoptic station. Climate variability was assessed through Mann-Kendall test. Number of rainy days showed statistically significant negative in April and May. Rainfall had statistically significant positive trend in March. Temperature time series appeared statistically significant positive trends in most of the months. Polluted industries have been increased in Esfahan and this problem is caused aerosols and dioxide carbon increase. This problem increase greenhouse phenomenon and greenhouse gases increase can make temperature increase. These results showed that eventual climate change has been started in Esfahan station and has been increasing and so, these results indicate the weather in Iran is growing warmer, especially in summer. Also, temperature increase causes evaporation increase, consequently affecting water resources.
