ABSTRACT

 

Photocatalyticreduction of toxic chromium was successfully achieved using photocatalytic reactor under the illumination of natural sunlight. Titanium dioxide is used as photocatalyst to enhance the photo catalytic reduction of chromium.Theeffect of various parameters such as catalyst dosage, initial concentration of chromium and solution pH on the reduction rate of chromium was investigates. The highest reduction rate of chromium was obtained at the optimal conditions of pH 4 and 2.0 g/lof TiO2. The agitation time was kept constant 180 mints. Results indicate that the optimum efficiencies of chromium were 86.1% at pH 4 obtained by photo reactor at natural sunlight.
