SOLAR POWERED MOTION DETECTOR FOR SECURITY IN DEFENCE SECTOR

ABSTRACT

 

A motion detector is a device that detects moving objects, particularly people. Such a device is often made up of different components like Arduino YUN, HC-SR04 sensor, connected with a battery and LED (Light Emitting Diode) to alert the user about motion in a particular area which is crucial for security. It has many commercial applications; one of the important applications being security in defence sector to alert the military about any intrusion by invaders. The sensor used in the motion detector described in this paper is anultrasonic sensor that works on the principle same as that of RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) or SONAR (Sound Navigation and Ranging). It generates high frequency sound and calculates the time interval between the sending of signal and the receiving of echo. It then applies appropriate calculation and measures the distance. The main advantage of the motion detector described in this paper is that it uses solar energy to power the arduino and in turn detect the motion of any intruder and glow an LED to alert the user.
