PLANKTON DIVERSITY OF PAGARA RESERVOIR, JAURA DISTRICT MORENA, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA

ABSTRACT

 

A study was carried out to access diversity of planktons of Pagara reservoir ,Morena , Madhya Pradesh, India for the period June 2016 to May 2017. Total 20 species of phytoplanktons and 23 species of zooplankton were identified. The phytoplanktons belonged to six families viz. Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Myxophyceae, Euglenophyceae and Dinophyceae. Out of these Chlorophyceae was the most dominant family and Dinophyceae was the least dominant family during the study period. Among zooplanktons, 4 species belonged to Protozoa, 11 species belonged to Rotifera, 5 species belonged to Cladocera and 3 species belonged to group copepoda. Rotifera was found to be the most dominant group and protozoa was the least dominant group.
